Call of Duty adds loading screen that says, Black Lives Matter

Infinity Ward recently released an update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, which features a flash screen video in support of the Black Lives Matter movement after the killing of George Floyd due to police brutality in Minneapolis.

“Our community is hurting, The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.” the loading screen message reads.

To view the message, players must update the title after finishing the online game. Once they do, the message will appear on the screen every time the game starts. When moving to Warzone, the loading screen is also seen. It follows a recent announcement by Call of Duty developers that they will try to track down the racist players of their games.

Several other gaming firms have made announcements about concerns and reported donations to the campaign. Pokémon Go’s Niantic will donate a total of USD 5 million from its Go Fest 2020 ticket sales. The Pokémon Company has pledged US$ 200,000 to the #BlackLivesMatter campaign and the NAACP.
